Burnout, Secret Longings, and the Path Back to Yourself
Jul 02, 2025
When you take a moment to look at your life, you realise that you’ve done everything right. Excellent even, impressive.
You’ve built the life that most people want. A career. A family, blood or heart. Maybe even fasting or weight training.
But what you really feel is numb.
Something’s amiss.
Not in any sort of dramatic way.
More like a quiet fog.
A secret wondering: “Is this all there is?”
—
On the outside you’re doing it all. Or maybe starting to struggle or resent doing it all.
You notice that you used to feel more. Laugh louder. Want bigger.
Probably you feel tired. Disconnected. On autopilot.
But the last thing you ant is to blow up your carefully built masterpiece of a life. The last thing you want is a midlife crisis. You just want to feel like yourself again.
—
The first step of self sabotage
Every time you let yourself feel that unease, that longing, your thoughts fo straight to disaster:
“I can’t quit my job.”
“I can’t abandon my family.”
“I can’t live alone on a island.”
So you shut it back down.
You call it being realistic. You tell yourself to be so grateful for all the marvels that you already have. You try harder.
But here’s my quiet whisper to you:
Change doesn’t happen in chaos. It happens in alignment.
One breath at a time. One yes at a time.
If you let that little flicker live, if you let yourself hear the little voice, it doesn’t mean that you need to throw it all away.
It means: what can I do today, feel today, be today, that takes me just a bit closer.
And in ten days, ten months, ten years — then you’ll find yourself in a life that you could never ever have imagined, let alone plan or engineer.
Osho said:
“When you are centred, silence comes. It comes like a fragrance, filling your whole being. And in that silence, you begin to hear the real song of your life.”
Burnout isn’t a crisis. Midlife isn’t a crises. It’s a recalibration. A remembering.

The Path Back to Yourself
The whisper that says, “There’s more,” isn’t dangerous. It’s divine.
It’s the part of you that remembers:
You’re not here to survive your life.
You’re here to inhabit it.
In Tantra we believe that there is consciousness in everything, that everything is sacred. It’s here. In your body. In your breath. In the now.
You don’t need to escape your life.
You need to come home to it. To yourself.
